Sun child Do you know that too? I'm a little scared because something completely new is beginning. But I'm also looking forward to it, especially because I'm curious about the unknown. Sad to leave the village? Not so right. Somehow I never really belonged here. The people in the village say I have always been "different". Of course only when my mother is not there. Oh yes, my mother ... I will miss her very much. But it is she who sends me on this journey. Not because she doesn't like me, but because the time has come. Time to learn a lot more, what I need to find my own way in life. That doesn't work in our small village, she says. That's why she sends me to the wise women on the island of Samsø. That is far away, in the middle of the Kattegat. But before I get on the boat, I want to tell you about my life. I am Romilda, 12 years old and a Thuringian. From today's perspective, we simply call Romilda “a Germanic”. But the name "Germanic" goes back to the Romans. The so-called did not use this word. They named themselves after their tribe. The settlement areas of the "Thuringians" were in the Thuringian Forest, in the Harz, on the Werra and Elbe. Little is known to us from the early days of the “Thuringians”. Their rise began when they freed themselves from the yoke of the Huns in AD 454. Around 500 AD, the Thuringian king Bisinus ruled a large empire from the middle Elbe south to the Main. Page 01 Drawing still in progress Page 02 Drawing still in progress I was born in the Thuringian Forest, At least that's what my mother told me. What she didn't tell me is why we left the forest. Our little family, my mother, my grandmother and my aunt and I left with other families one day to find a new home. It was a long way to get here. Now we live on the upper reaches of the Elbe with the Hermunduren, who belong to the great tribe of the Suebi. Of course I only know that from stories, I was just born. I didn't know my father either. When I asked my mother about him, she always said, "He's dead". My earliest memory, when I was maybe 3 years old, is standing by the hand of my mother with the villagers on the riverbank and we wave to the men on the boats who are going on a journey north. I will follow them soon. At different times tribes lived on the Elbe, which we now count among the "Suebi". There were the "Hermunduren" on the upper reaches of the Elbe, the "Semnonen" between Elbe and Oder and the "Winiler" on the lower reaches of the Elbe. The "Winiler", now called "Lombards", had already moved further south in Romilda's times and were practically neighbors of the "Thuringians" before they invaded Italy.
My great-grandmother called children born on a Sunday "Sunday children" and claimed that they could talk to animals. Since Romilda was born on a Sunday and loves animals, this provided the idea for the title “Sunnabarn” (old Nordic sun and child = sun child). Sunnabarn is a text-picture story to introduce Romilda to the player and how Romilda came to travel to the island of Samsø, where the puzzle game Romilda - Vísi is set. Romilda tells her story shortly before leaving for Samsø. We get to know the area in which she lives, her village, the people with whom she lives, such as her mother, the blacksmith and his apprentice, the white woman, etc. And so she tells us about the life of the Teutons . In front of the text there is a drawing and after the text there is an info box with historical explanations of their story. The story will appear in sequels on the Facebook page and the website of "Romilda - Vísi" before the beta version of the game is released. Then, at the same time as the game starts, a complete publication will be made as a “pdf”, e-comic format and as a print version.
