Preparations
After we had drawn the red thread
through the stories, the conceptual work
on the four games and their content was
completed.
Now we started working on the
authenticity.
Of course, "Romilda" is not a historical
person, but she is also not a fantasy
figure. Her lives, her actions, her clothes
and her environment should correspond
to what we know about the Teutons
today.
In order to visualize this for our 2D and 3D
artists, a comprehensive summary (text
document "The Germanen" by A. Laube)
was created about the tribes, society,
architecture and settlement construction,
agriculture, hunting, fishing, handicrafts,
economy and trade, clothing, weapons, the
language and the runes.
Then we were on the road for a summer and
took photos and film recordings at the same
time.
We visited the Germanic village in Klein
Köris, the Slavic castle Raddusch and the
Germanic Museum in Nuremberg.
This is where the reference images for the
settlement system, clothes, jewelry,
weapons, etc.
In addition, many pictures were taken in
nature: plants, herbs, trees, stones and walls.
The preparatory creation, cataloging and
assignment to the game sequences took a
year in total.
The test phase with the 2D and 3D artists for
implementation has now been completed
and work on “Romilda - Vísi” and (for
marketing) the prehistory “Sunnabarn”
(picture story) and an advertising trailer
“Escape from Yggdrasil” have begun.
